The best way to install a swamp cooler is into an attic, ducting its airflow to the ceiling in each top floor room. But locating a cooler up high may not be possible everywhere (some HOAs) if the big ugly box is too visible. The alternative is to mount through the wall into some room. Early and late Colorado summer weather is variable; some nights get cold and you may want the control panel cover on. If the wind blows too hard that cover will come flying off into the room, maybe breaking expensive art on the surface below the cooler (you get the ‘drift’). This niche fix uses pins to secure the cover to the control panel. The pins stay in the cover due to how the holes are sized (no loose parts). Adding the rings provides a finger hold.
